School Readiness Programs

Many parents are curious about the skills children need before starting school. Traditionally, reading and writing were emphasized, but schools now typically introduce these subjects after children begin formal education. The NSW Department of Education and Training has identified key skills that can ease the transition to school (available on their website).

At Ryde Early Learning Centre, our school readiness program begins as soon as your child joins us and continues to support their development toward primary school readiness. Our goal is to nurture lifelong learning skills in every child.

Our preschool educators are dedicated to helping your child follow instructions, articulate their needs, achieve independence in toileting, adapt to new environments and experiences, engage in cooperative play, sit attentively during group activities, and share attention with peers and adults. These skills are essential for a successful transition to school and align with educational standards set by the NSW Department of Education and Training.

Our educational programs follow an emergent curriculum aligned with ACECQA, the National Quality Framework, and The Early Years Learning Framework. They are tailored to each child’s developmental stage, with a focus on personalized learning opportunities. We encourage spontaneous, independent play as a key part of our approach.

Children at our centre engage in activities that promote exploration, self-discovery, social interactions, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for future success. Our educators document these learning experiences through personal stories shared with parents and guardians to celebrate each child’s progress and achievements.
